Half way through the year means half-way through my One Little Word project too. Like my Year of Creative Habits, this means reflection time. The prompt that Ali provided us with this month was a two page print out with a bunch of questions about how we feel about our word, what we like/ dislike, goals we've met, and future actions we can take moving forward through the rest of the year.
In case this is your first time here, my word this year is Quality. So far I have been focusing on the quality of my artwork and making sure I am still spending quality time with Derek now that Olivia is here. Right now, I feel like I am totally rocking both of these!
There are also things I have let go of, like my goal to spend more quality time with Dave via a once a month date night. As much as I would LOVE this, we just don't have the funds for babysitters and going out and we have no family/ friends nearby to help out with that. Maybe once we move back closer to family (yes we are planning another move for sometime in the future! More on that later). Right now, we are happy if we can make it through a glass of wine and a whole episode of Orange is the New Black :)
That brings me to what I want to focus on moving forward. The big one for me is focusing on the Quality of my thoughts. More positive, less negative. More developing existing ideas, less trying to come up with new ones. More focus, less clutter. Second, is Quality of life, long-term. For me this means looking at big goals, like moving back to Michigan and purchasing a house, and figuring out how to get there.
So, that's where I am at. I have liked this workshop so far, but have found that this word, in comparison with last year's (Focus) is quieter and not as prominent in my everyday and that is OK. I still find myself returning to last years word at least once a day as a way of getting stuff done without getting overwhelmed. We will see where this word takes me.
