Another week, another four sketches in my book! I went out of the box a bit this week and instead of focusing on one type of produce per sketch, mixed it up a bit with some recipe ingredients and line drawings.
One of the projects I am working on is inspired by all things herbal--tea, gardens, and cooking. I am looking to incorporate more floral types and did a study of rose hips as a possibility. I really liked the way the blue ones came out (they really look more like blueberries) but think the redish ones would fit into a pattern a bit better.
The above are a few ingredients from a Moroccan Chicken and Olive Tagine I made earlier this week. It is not something I make often, but oh man when I do...it is SO SO good. Not thrilled with the olives, but would like to do a whole study of them sometime in the near future.
These last two are large scale line drawings done using my trusty Micron pens. The first is star anise and the second is thistle. I am experimenting with large scale pattern that is somewhat floral, but still sticking with my herbal theme. I am excited to play around with these in illustrator later this week!
This next week you can expect at least one traditional produce study as I am itching to get back into it and probably another floral/ herb watercolor or two. Happy creating!
