I can't believe another week has come and gone!! This one was spent caring for a sick little boy who has had a cold/ fever/ ear infection since Friday :( Needless to say I didn't do as much creating as usual, but I did manage to squeeze in a bit.
I continued to play around with loose line drawings highlighted with a bit of color. I love how the kale turned out! It was really fun to use a bunch of tight scribbles to get the texture. I used both marker and watercolor for the color portion and focused on individual leaves or portions that were folded over.
While I am still really enjoying drawing/ painting various produce, I am continuing to spend a good portion of my creative time exploring other ideas and projects, which means there could be fewer produce illustrations in the weeks to come, but I am totally OK with that. The point of starting the Year of Creative Habits project was to make creating art on a daily basis a habit. And it has definitely become that. Lately I have had fun experimenting on 3"x4" watercolor cards with my markers and watercolors, exploring pattern and natural elements that I can use as part of a larger project (I know I keep mentioning this "project" and I promise there will be more to come on that soon once I have a bit more of it put together). As far as this coming week goes, I am going to commit to buying some type of produce that I have yet to draw...maybe an artichoke or radicchio?
